DESCRIPTION:Carving a spoon is one of the most peaceful and relaxing woodworking things one can do. It’s a skill you can just about take anywhere and do. In this class we’ll take a basic log and show you how to make it into a spoon. You’ll use our tools and carve a spoon of your choice out of the cut stump throughout the 6 hour course. Some key highlights will be safety\, reading the wood grain and it’s significants\, picking the right wood\, different styles and techniques\, the tools needed\, and sharpening the tools. DESCRIPTION:5 day class \n$1700 \nMax 2 Students \nThe workbench building class is a great class to build a tool that will be the foundation of most all future builds. It’s a solid bench made of poplar that’s heavy\, durable\, and will be built to last many lifetimes. We utilize mortise and tenon joints and drawbore pins to ensure strength and sturdiness on the base and a solid 6 foot 2 1/2 thick (minimum) top. We’ll make holes for hold fasts and plane stops and install a 14” face vise by Andrew Klein. This is a non racking dual speed steel vise with solid wood backers that is only available here. Leaders in the woodworking industry like Christopher Schwarz have popularized this chest through articles and classes. We offer a class for the Dutch tool chest that will start on Friday night and follow with a full day Saturday and finish on Sunday. This class is a hand tool workout utilizing hand chisels\, hand planes\, hand router planes\, hammers with cut nails\, hand saws and much more. Each student will work out of their own Japanese tool chest with the needed Lie Nielsen chisels\, and planes. Each student taking the class has the option to purchase the kit they used at a reduced cost as well. Hand cut dove tails\, hand cut dado’s\, hand planed tongue and groove oak back are just some of the processes. Each student will continue their learning in these areas and leave with a Dutch tool chest ready to personalize with their own interiors and tools as they see fit. Everything is provided including refreshments and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. All materials and use of tools are included.
