Leaders in the woodworking industry like Christopher Schwarz have popularized this chest through articles and classes. We offer a class for the Dutch tool chest that will start on Friday night and follow with a full day Saturday and finish on Sunday. This class is a hand tool workout utilizing hand chisels\, hand planes\, hand router planes\, hammers with cut nails\, hand saws and much more. Each student will work out of their own Japanese tool chest with the needed Lie Nielsen chisels\, and planes. Each student taking the class has the option to purchase the kit they used at a reduced cost as well. Hand cut dove tails\, hand cut dado’s\, hand planed tongue and groove oak back are just some of the processes. Each student will continue their learning in these areas and leave with a Dutch tool chest ready to personalize with their own interiors and tools as they see fit. Everything is provided including refreshments and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. All materials and use of tools are included. DESCRIPTION:Carving a spoon is one of the most peaceful and relaxing woodworking things one can do. It’s a skill you can just about take anywhere and do. In this class we’ll take a basic log and show you how to make it into a spoon. You’ll use our tools and carve a spoon of your choice out of the cut stump throughout the 6 hour course. Some key highlights will be safety\, reading the wood grain and it’s significants\, picking the right wood\, different styles and techniques\, the tools needed\, and sharpening the tools. This course will be taught by Mathew Johnson of Johnson woodworking and includes everything you need including refreshments. Come spend the day in a quiet environment with like minded people creating and learning. DESCRIPTION:Come build a cutting board for yourself or a gift for your loved ones. During the weeks of Dec 1-15th come any evening at your convenience to build a cutting board. It requires about two hours each visit and two visits. The first is to select the woods and put the board in clamps glued up. Within 24 hours or later you can return to thickness the board\, put your edge on it\, and apply the final finish. The second night also takes about 2 hours. DESCRIPTION:In the Hand Joinery class we attempt to take the mystique out of hand cut dovetails and mortise and tenon joints. Many very seasoned woodworkers haven’t utilized hand joinery and we’re offering a class for the very seasoned and the new woodworkers to try their hand at it. You’ll learn layout\, different styles of joints and their pros and cons\, the tools needed to complete the joints\, and you’ll actually make one of each styles. You’ll be using our tools we have here and we’ll go over in detail what you might need if you choose to continue practicing at home. This class is a requirement for the Dutch tool chest class as well. It’s approximately 4 hours but we’re ok if it goes long. DESCRIPTION:Carving a spoon is one of the most peaceful and relaxing woodworking things one can do. It’s a skill you can just about take anywhere and do. In this class we’ll take a basic log and show you how to make it into a spoon. You’ll use our tools and carve a spoon of your choice out of the cut stump throughout the 6 hour course.
