Carving a spoon is one of the most peaceful and relaxing woodworking things one can do. It’s a skill you can just about take anywhere and do. In this class we’ll take a basic log and show you how to make it into a spoon. You’ll use our tools and carve a spoon of your choice out of the cut stump throughout the 6 hour course. Some key highlights will be safety, reading the wood grain and it’s significants, picking the right wood, different styles and techniques, the tools needed, and sharpening the tools. This course will be taught by Mathew Johnson of Johnson woodworking and includes everything you need including refreshments. Come spend the day in a quiet environment with like minded people creating and learning. You’ll leave with a beautiful spoon you can have and use for years to come.
