This is a very limited class where we help you build your own workbench. We take from Christopher Schwarz design and throw in our own modern flair. We use heavy duty northern pine wood and offer upgrades to the basic class. The basic workbench will be a solid yellow pine top and legs and have Andrew Kleins turbo vise installed as a tail or face vise.

We’ll cover many aspect of woodworking in this predominantly hand tool class. Matt will take you on a journey of woodworking from past centuries and guide you to build your own walnut wall cabinet. Each cabinet will be distinct with some key learning points being: Hand Cut dovetail joinery, Mortise and tenon joinery., Tongue and groove., How to install hinges., How to make a panel door.

You will get the knowledge on how to build them, get to have a hands on experience, and you’ll leave with enough walnut to build your own.

Walnut box class description. Come make a keepsake box out of walnut. This one day basic class we cover the joints required to make a simple box but made to last. We’ll cover gluing, milling, clamping, sanding, applying an oil finish, and use many power and hand tools. This is a great and fun class!

In this course using a laser engraver, you can come in and make the wooden sign yourself, and we’ll laser engrave the saying of your choice. In the serving tray class you’ll be using the router table to make dado joints, the miter saw to cut 45” sides, a shooting plane to get them spot on, a band saw to shape, a drill press to cut the handle and a bit of sanding to get everything smooth. It’s a beautiful piece and one that will get attention for years to come. We’ll be building it out of cherry and curly maple.

You asked for it, we made it! Come build your own river table! We use your choice of maple, cherry, or walnut lumber and build a coffee table size top. Approximately 22x46”. This will be a live edge centered river table. The first night we’ll prep the mold, prep the lumber and pour the epoxy. The second night we’ll flatten, sand, and apply a rubio monocoat finish. Come build one the right way in a clean safe environment, with the tools you need. Each class is two 4-5 hour evenings. Everything is included to make the top.

Build your own beautiful plant stand! This 6 hour class, or 2 3 hour night class is for beginner/intermediate levels. We use cherry, maple, or hackberry wood to build a stand that can also be taken a part and conveniently stored. This is a particularly fun group project!

For centuries carpenters have carried their hand tools to homes and businesses to make fine furniture and art. Our Joiners chest is a small version of the Anarchist tool chest and one that can be used for many things. In this class you’ll build an entire chest using dovetails, tongue and grooves, dado’s, for the carcass and skirt. You’ll build a rail and stiles panel lid using mortise and tenon joints, tongue and groove, and dovetails. It’s a beautiful chest that can be used for many things, but the skills you’ll acquire here while building it will open you up to build many other projects in future. All the materials and tools needed are supplied.

Build the skill of hand joinery to be able to improve your woodworking skills and broaden your ability to build many other projects. We supply all the tools and materials and even lunch and refreshments! We only use some of the finest hand tools to teach you layout, sawing, understanding why you’d choose dovetails, and how they can improve your projects. You’ll cut your own dovetails in this class and learn what you’ll need to take your newly acquired skills to the next level.

A follow up to Intro 1 where we dive in deeper and go through the milling process, use different styles of joinery and get hands on with the tools to familiarize you with how to use them, how to stay safe for you and those around you. This is a class that will allow you to know what tools you feel best having and using to build the projects YOU want to build and know what NOT to buy. We’ll make a small cherry and walnut box in this class utilizing different styles of joinery.

What different types, how to purchase wood, a brief description of hardwood species, what tools to use for your interests in woodworking, and most importantly safety. We dive into setup of machines and what hand tools to use in their place. Lastly we discuss the RIGHT steps to get each piece of wood properly dimensioned so each is square and you start with the best chance then of making a beautiful project.
