Taking our hand plane class is a great way to learn how to use your hand planes, and choose which planes you need for their intended uses. One of the most crucial parts of any hand plane is setup and sharpening. We’ll demonstrate each of these throughout the course of the day. We talk about different styles and brands, there intended uses, their maintenance needs, and a little bit of history. This is a full day class with both demonstrations and hands on work. If you are new to woodworking and want to get into hand tools, or are experienced but not quite sure why your tools don’t perform as they should, this is a great and very fun class to take.

When you’re ready to dive into finding out what the real details are in building truly hand crafted fine furniture this is your course. You’ll be building a shaker style end table starting with 8/4 cherry and building the entire piece from one board. You’ll learn how to best use the lumber for the least waste and proper grain patters for easier building and a long lasting piece of furniture. This class will require machine work and also hand cut mortise and tenons. It’s a wonderful course to learn what the experts know and build a truly beautiful piece.

In this class you’ll be building one of three designs you pick from. End grain cutting boards are a far more unique looking board then your standard cutting board, and are better for your knives. This is a three evening class where you’ll learn to glue up, use a sled on a table saw, use a jointer, use a router, sand, and apply a finish. You’ll leave with a beautiful board of your own using local and exotic species of wood.Cost is $185 which covers everything including materials, shop time, and professional instruction.Max class size 4 Beginner to advanced -

Have you ever wanted to just build your own guitar? Learn how to set it up, how to install electronics, fret work and feeling what your future music will sound like? You’ll be building an ash bodied tele style guitar from scratch. This is a very limited class only run during summer months. Sign up early to get a spot! We’ll build our own bodies from Ash wood starting from a block of wood to a finely shaped guitar body. We’ll route the guitar for pickups, for the hard maple neck, all the electronics, and install the hardware. We go over the installation of the neck, solder the electronics, Install the tuners, install the neck nut, bridge, and go over how to setup the guitar properly to get it just like you like it! The cost of the class includes Ash body, mighty mite tele neck, hardware, pickups, switches, and cover plate.

Requirement: Hand joinery class or equivalent required. The Dutch style tool chest is becoming more and more popular. It’s a great chest to hold your hand tools safely without being so heavy you can’t carry it. It’s a great class to extend your knowledge of furniture joinery including dovetails, dado’s, rabbets, tongue and groove, and mortise and tenon. This is a primarily hand tool based class. It’s best for you to have taken a previous introduction to dovetail and mortise and tenon class but it’s not required. This is definitely one of the most fun builds we do here. Materials are included. We do offer an upgrade of hand forged hardware as seen on the chest pictured. Please contact Mark for information.

The second half we show you how to use a planer and belt sander. We then pick an edging style and show you how to use a router table. We then show you how to use an orbital sander. Finally, we oil up the board to protect and bring out the natural grain. Lastly bring home your new custom cutting board!

Take your woodworking to the next level by making a long grain cutting board! In this class we look at 10 different types of hardwood and decide how to slice them to get the look YOU want. We use the table saw, router, sanders, and go over how to use a jointer/planer in class.
