We’ll cover the ins and outs of whats best for each style of woodworking. This class is intended for the woodworker who wants to add that little bit of flair to their wood projects. We’ll make small charcuterie boards in this 2 night course to use what you learn.
  • What to expect: The first part we discuss and show the 12 different types of wood that are available. We then show how to use a table saw correctly and safely. We go right into glue up. The second half we show you how to use a planer and belt sander. We then pick an edging style and show you how to use a router table. We then show you how to use an orbital sander. Finally, we oil up the board to protect and bring out the natural grain. Lastly bring home your new custom cutting board!

  • In the class we’ll demonstrate different oil finishes, some you know, and some you might not. We’ll discuss their structure, safety, best application methods, and what each is best suited for. You’ll leave with an outstanding knowledge of how to apply a better finish for each of your upcoming projects.

We’ll go over terms, types of woods, over the tools and machine and what each one does and spend a lot of time talking safety. We’ll break for lunch then come back and begin to build a tool tote from cherry wood. You’ll leave with the confidence to start your own projects and what you’ll need to accomplish them. And a cool Tool Box!

  • De-mystify this joint that’s been used for centuries. Learn to saw properly, how to use hand tools to get those crisp edges we all drool over when we see them. We’ll discuss how to do layouts, which steps are most critically and give you some great little hints to make your joints strong first of all, then pretty. It’s a very fun, challenging and relaxing class. We’ve even got a list of what we consider are the bare essentials for hand joinery.
  • In this class you’ll learn the styles of different joints and different ways to make them. In fine furniture building knowing how to make solid Mortise and Tenon joints is very important and this class will get you started. We’ll be building a frame. Very similar to what’s used in pictures, or doors on cupboards. Another fun and relaxing class but one essential to growing your skills. A good course to take before the intermediate and advanced courses.

  • Spend a day learning how to make a Walnut Mitered box. We do a lot of demonstration how to cut miters properly, how to use a shooting plane, how to cut splines to add strength to your miters, how to make liners, how to maintain grain direction in a box, and final finish and sanding. This class is intended as a hands on demonstration. The boxes we build will be sent to Lemons Of Love. They will donate the boxes to cancer survivors as a a keepsake box. You will get the knowledge on how to build them, get to have a hands on experience, and you’ll leave with enough walnut to build your own.
