This class is intended as a beginning class to get a person started into woodworking. We’ll go over terms, types of woods, over the tools and machine and what each one does and spend a lot of time talking safety. We’ll break for lunch then come back and begin to build a tool tote from cherry wood. You’ll leave with the confidence to start your own projects and what you’ll need to accomplish them. And a cool Tool Box!

A class built around the needs of our local area. You asked for it, and we made it! A one day course where we cover how to get started in woodworking! What different types, how to purchase wood, a brief description of hardwood species, what tools to use for your interests in woodworking, and most importantly safety. We dive into setup of machines and what hand tools to use in their place. Lastly we discuss the RIGHT steps to get each piece of wood properly dimensioned so each is square and you start with the best chance then of making a beautiful project.

A follow up to Intro 1 where we dive in deeper and go through the milling process, use different styles of joinery and get hands on with the tools to familiarize you with how to use them, how to stay safe for you and those around you. This is a class that will allow you to know what tools you feel best having and using to build the projects YOU want to build and know what NOT to buy. We’ll make a small cherry and walnut box in this class utilizing different styles of joinery.

In the introductory to hand cut dove tail class you’ll learn to cut your own dovetails! Build the skill of hand joinery to be able to improve your woodworking skills and broaden your ability to build many other projects. We supply all the tools and materials and even lunch and refreshments! We only use some of the finest hand tools to teach you layout, sawing, understanding why you’d choose dovetails, and how they can improve your projects. You’ll cut your own dovetails in this class and learn what you’ll need to take your newly acquired skills to the next level.

These are fabulous chest used for centuries and are great chest to hold tools, or almost anything. We build the carcass in this class using cherry and walnut as a highlight. We do a lot of hand plane work along with some machine work to join the box using dado’s and cut nails. You’ll learn some mill techniques, hand planing, and learning how to build understanding wood movement. We incorporate a custom locking lid in ours.

Our Joiners chest is a small version of the Anarchist tool chest and one that can be used for many things. In this class you’ll build an entire chest using dovetails, tongue and grooves, dado’s, for the carcass and skirt. You’ll build a rail and stiles panel lid using mortise and tenon joints, tongue and groove, and dovetails. It’s a beautiful chest that can be used for many things, but the skills you’ll acquire here while building it will open you up to build many other projects in future. All the materials and tools needed are supplied.

You’ll leave with an outstanding knowledge of how to apply a better finish for each of your upcoming projects.
